Green Smoothie and NEW SHOES!!

Last night didn't quite turn out as planned, as my beloved TERPS fell to the Blue Devils. We'll get them next time...when it really counts...the ACC Tournament or better yet, the NCAA tournament! (If we make it there...)

Rest day today, which is perfect because it's been raining on and off all day. I decided to try something new today...a green smoothie! Lots of people in the blog world eat (drink?) them, and people in general seem to like them, so I figured I might as well give them a try. I like smoothies..after all, I did get a blender for my 16th birthday. (Thanks mom and dad!) Sooo I got some spinach, threw in a trusty banana, added some milk and ice cubes because that seemed like a good idea, and blended away. Here was the result:

It looks alright...and at first taste, I actually thought it was pretty good. I mostly tasted the banana, but about halfway through I couldn't bring myself to eat anymore! It seemed like I was chewing it more than drinking it, and I'm not a fan of the gritty-little-bits-of-stuff-in-my-mouth feeling. Maybe I needed to blend it more? Add more fruit for sweetness? Drink it through a straw? Any suggestions? I might just stick with the old fashioned way of getting my vegetables...eating them with a fork! We shall see.

Anyway, the other exciting news is that when I got home from work, there little babies were on my doorstep!

Yay! I'm so excited to try them out! Like I said previously, I'm currently on my fifth pair of Adrenaline 6, so it'll be fun to have a new color scheme on my shoes! I added in the picture of the side of the box because I like Brooks's "Run Happy" slogan. They certainly make me happy to run in! har har.

Good luck with fine tuning the smoothie. I don't have a blender, I don't think.

  5. I am not THE green smoothie expert (that would be Angela at Oh She Glows!), but I have been making them more often and I definitely think you have it right with the two "tricks"--blend well and add fruit. I've been adding raspberries and that is really nice and takes away from the green color, which can be a bit off-putting to some :D
